How much does it cost to plant a tree?
$5 plants one tree in Canada. Tree Canada’s current planting cost under the National Greening Program is approximately $5 per seedling. Donations are pooled and transferred in batches to support coordinated seasonal planting projects across the country.
What does my donation fund?
Your donation supports seedling procurement, site preparation, professional planting labour, and post-planting monitoring. Trees are planted through Tree Canada’s National Greening Program to ensure proper forestry standards and long-term survival.
Where are the trees planted?
Trees are planted across Canada in areas identified for ecological restoration, including wildfire-affected regions, degraded lands, riparian zones, and biodiversity corridors. Planting locations are selected based on environmental need and seasonal forestry planning.
Am I donating directly to Tree Canada?
No. Donations are made to Eternal Virtue, a registered Canadian charity. Eternal Virtue aggregates contributions and directs funds toward Tree Canada’s National Greening Program to facilitate large-scale reforestation efforts.
When will the trees be planted?
Tree planting occurs seasonally – typically in spring and fall – depending on regional climate conditions. Your donation supports the next available planting cycle based on Tree Canada’s project schedule.
How are the trees monitored after planting?
Plantings follow professional forestry management standards and include survival assessments in years 1, 2, and 5. If survival rates fall below accepted benchmarks, replanting may occur to ensure long-term success.
Will I receive a tax receipt?
Yes. Eternal Virtue issues official Canadian charitable tax receipts for all donations of $25 CAD or more, in accordance with CRA guidelines.
Can I plant a tree in the name of a loved one?
Yes. You may dedicate a tree in the name of a loved one as a meaningful form of legacy giving. Planting a tree can serve as a form of ongoing charity (sadaqa jariya), whereby your loved one continues to receive reward and benefit from this generous act as the tree grows and provides environmental good.
